About the Foundation

Whether on the Mississippi River or on the world’s most distant oceans, mariners know what it means to struggle and to face hardship and peril.  We also know that the only way to overcome hardship is to work together.  Our lives are, quite literally, in each others’ hands.  This is the guiding philosophy of the Crescent River Port Pilots’ Foundation: we all must help each other, reach out to our neighbors and build up our communities, if we are going to navigate our ship safely home.

Letter from the President

Connecting with the World and Our Neighbors…. In 2005 in an effort to give back something to the communities in which they live and work, the Crescent River Port Pilots created the Crescent River Port Pilots’ Foundation (CRPPF), an organization committed to supporting charitable causes in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes. Serving as president since May 2011 along with a dedicated board of Foundation members, we continue to strive to uphold our mission statement  “The Crescent River Port Pilots and their families direct their purpose to charitable causes helping the people and environments in the parishes they serve.” This purpose is our commitment to the business communities and the people of the 5 parishes that make up the Greater New Orleans area, to be there when the spirit and the resilience of an area need to be uplifted and rebuilt.
